- In any system, several points may exist where
- the electric potential is the same. Lines connecting
- these points are called equipotential lines if the
- electric potential along these lines is constant. In this
- case no work is done in moving a charge along these
- lines. Moving from one line to another involves a
- potential difference that is a constant for a path
- joining any point on the first line to any point on
- the second line. In other words, the work done and
- change in potential are independent of path.
